10th Planet Louisville
10th Planet Jiu‑Jitsu is a modern submission‑grappling system created by Eddie Bravo in 2003. Dissatisfied with gi‑dependent grips, Bravo built a no‑gi curriculum that favors rash‑guards and shorts over traditional kimonos. His system stresses fluid transitions and unconventional control positions, encouraging creativity and innovation over point‑based strategies.
Key techniques include the Rubber Guard (a high‑control guard for breaking posture), the Twister (a spine lock submission) and the Lockdown (a half‑guard control position). These moves are taught as interconnected systems so practitioners can chain attacks and maintain control. Training emphasizes mobility and limb isolation rather than relying on grips, making it highly transferable to MMA and self‑defense situations. The approach builds hip flexibility, core strength and problem‑solving ability.
10th Planet has grown into a worldwide network of more than 100 schools. Louisville Combat Academy is proud to be part of this community; under black‑belt Adrian “AJ” Jenkins, the academy teaches Bravo’s no‑gi curriculum and fosters the system’s supportive, no‑ego culture
